Members of the Sabine Cattlemen’s Association recently gathered for a meeting featuring information on livestock concerns, agricultural legislation and upcoming events within the Louisiana cattle industry.

Lee Faulk with the LSU AgCenter spoke to attendees about mealybugs and screwworms, providing information on the agricultural and livestock concerns.

Jacob Bellow, Brand Commissioner with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, introduced himself to members and provided brand applications, information and updates.

Rodney Schamerhorn discussed recently passed legislation affecting agriculture and the farming community.

Representatives from the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association also attended the meeting. Shae Simon, LCA President Lynn Deloach and LCA President-Elect Shannon Midkiff introduced themselves and provided updates on upcoming Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association events.

The meeting also included a meal prepared by Chris Pearce, who served beef stew, while his wife, Pam Pearce, provided cake for dessert.

The Sabine Cattlemen’s Association thanked those who attended and participated, noting that the meeting provided an opportunity for members of the agricultural community to learn, share information and enjoy fellowship.
