FORT JESUP, La. — History will take on a Halloween twist this weekend as Fort Jesup State Historic Site hosts Halloween at the Fort on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. and will offer visitors an evening hayride through historic military scenes at the site.

Along the route, guests will encounter scenes depicting a watchman’s post, the original military graveyard, a medical tent and a soldier’s campsite, combining Halloween fun with a look at the military history of Fort Jesup.

Following the hayride, activities will continue at the fort’s original kitchen building, where visitors can participate in historic games and enjoy popcorn and apple cider.

The Sabine Parish Tourist Commission described the event as an opportunity for families to kick off the Halloween season while also experiencing a piece of Sabine Parish history.
