SABINE PARISH — Hot and humid conditions will continue across Sabine Parish through early next week, with heat index values climbing above 100 degrees before scattered showers and thunderstorms return later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday is expected to bring the hottest conditions, with a high near 96 degrees and heat index values as high as 105 degrees. While isolated rain chances return Thursday and continue through the weekend, no widespread rainfall is expected.

The National Weather Service encourages residents to take precautions during the prolonged heat by drinking plenty of water, limiting strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon hours, and taking frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas.
Residents are also reminded to check on elderly neighbors and other vulnerable individuals and to never leave children or pets unattended inside a parked vehicle, where temperatures can quickly reach dangerous levels.
