Several members of the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office recently strengthened their leadership skills by participating in the FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute (SLI) held last week in Shreveport.

Sheriff Aaron Mitchell and several deputies attended the advanced leadership program, which is designed to enhance the leadership abilities of supervisors and middle managers within law enforcement. The institute follows FBI-LEEDA’s interactive

“Cops Teaching Cops” model, providing practical instruction from experienced law enforcement professionals.

The course focused on developing leadership competencies that participants can apply in their daily supervisory roles. Deputies explored key concepts including credibility, accountability, motivation, liability, and discipline—skills considered essential for effective leadership at every level of policing.

Law Enforcement Liability

Police Discipline

DISC Behavior and Leadership

Leading Generations

According to the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office, the training equips participants with valuable tools to better lead personnel, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and meet the evolving challenges facing today’s law enforcement agencies.

Sheriff Mitchell also expressed appreciation to Chief Wayne Smith and the Shreveport Police Department for hosting the training and extending their hospitality throughout the week.
