
SABINE PARISH, La. — Sabine Parish Schools are celebrating another year of academic progress after the release of the 2026 LEAP assessment results, highlighting continued district-wide improvement and recognition at the state level.
According to district data, Sabine Parish Schools achieved a 33% overall mastery rate, reflecting a one-point increase from 2025 and continuing a trend of multi-year academic growth.
The district also earned a notable distinction by becoming one of only 12 school systems in Louisiana to increase proficiency in all four core academic subjects—English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
Core Subject Gains
The 2026 LEAP results show improvements across the district’s core subject areas:
English Language Arts: 43% proficient, up 2 percentage points
Mathematics: 35% proficient, up 2 percentage points
Science: 27% proficient, up 1 percentage point
Social Studies: Continued district-wide improvement, contributing to gains across all four core academic areas
Multi-Year Growth Highlights
The district also reported significant gains in several key grade levels over the past three years:
3rd Grade Science: Increased from 18% proficiency to 28%
5th Grade Overall: Improved from 27% proficiency to 35%
High School English II: Rose from 44% proficiency to 50%
School leaders say the results reflect years of focused instruction, student perseverance, and the collaborative efforts of teachers, administrators, families, and the community.
The district noted that every percentage point increase represents more students mastering grade-level expectations, emphasizing the positive impact of continued investment in classroom instruction and student support.
