Sabine Parish Master Gardeners announce 2027 down and dirty seminar

The Sabine Parish Master Gardeners are inviting gardening enthusiasts to mark their calendars for the return of the annual Down and Dirty Seminar, scheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2027.

The upcoming seminar, themed “Proven, Productive and Picturesque: Success in the Southern Garden,” will feature educational presentations, guest speakers and a variety of vendors offering gardening-related products and resources.

Organized by the Sabine Parish Master Gardeners in association with the LSU AgCenter, the event will focus on practical gardening techniques and ideas designed to help participants create productive and attractive landscapes suited to the Southern climate.

According to the event announcement, the 2027 seminar will feature three primary educational topics:

The Home Orchard: Information focused on growing and maintaining fruit-producing trees and plants in residential landscapes.

Raised Bed Gardening: Techniques and considerations for establishing and maintaining raised garden beds.

Heirloom Gardening in the South with a Focus on Color: Exploring heirloom plants and incorporating colorful varieties into Southern gardens.

In addition to the educational sessions, organizers anticipate a variety of vendors, providing attendees with opportunities to explore gardening products, plants and other resources.

The Sabine Parish Master Gardeners announced that ticket sales information is expected to be released in November. Additional details, including speakers, registration information and event arrangements, will be announced as the seminar approaches.

The annual event offers an opportunity for both experienced gardeners and beginners to expand their gardening knowledge, discover new techniques and connect with others who share an interest in horticulture.

Residents interested in attending are encouraged to save the February 27 date and watch for additional announcements.
