Utility assistance available for eligible Sabine Parish residents through LIHEAP

The Sabine Parish Chamber of Commerce is encouraging residents to share information about the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which helps eligible households with home energy costs.

LIHEAP provides financial assistance to qualifying individuals and families to help maintain safe and comfortable indoor temperatures by assisting with home energy bills, preventing utility disconnections, and helping reconnect services when applicable.

The Chamber is asking community members to help spread the word so neighbors, friends, and family members who may be struggling with utility costs are aware of the assistance that may be available.

How to Join the Waiting List

A new waiting list for LIHEAP Cooling Assistance is opened on the first Tuesday of every month.

Phone lines open at 8:30 a.m.

The first 100 callers will receive a spot on the waiting list.

Applicants must call (318) 872-8241 and follow the prompts to speak with the appropriate case manager.

Voicemails will not secure a place on the waiting list.

Residents facing an emergency utility situation may also qualify for LIHEAP Crisis Assistance, which is available every Monday and Friday, subject to funding availability.
