Northwestern State University hosted a two-day Nursing and Allied Health Open House at the University’s Cenla campus at England Airpark in Alexandria April 11-12. The open house showcased the offerings in Nursing, Allied Health and Radiologic Science offered by NSU at its Cenla Campus.
About 75 prospective students are expected to attend the open house over the two days. Faculty and staff are on hand to outline admission requirements, financial aid, tour labs and facilities, and discuss the various academic programs.
The NSU Cenla Campus’ Nursing offerings are truly impressive. The school offers programs leading to becoming an RN tailored to students in many different life situations. In addition to the traditional 2- and 4-year Nursing degrees for conventional students, there are programs tailor made for Licensed Practical Nurses, Paramedics, and military medics to become Registered Nurses and for nurses with two-year degrees to upgrade to their bachelor’s degree in nursing. The Cenla campus is also introducing an accelerated program for individuals who already have a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing. Nurses looking to advance their careers have the opportunity to earn a Master’s degree in Nursing as well as a Doctorate. The Cenla campus also offers a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Science and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Allied Health.
The Cenla campus is one of four campuses along with Natchitoches, Shreveport, and Leesville at which it is possible to earn a degree in Nursing, Radiologic Science or Allied Health. Northwestern State University is the largest producer of Registered Nurses and radiologic technologists in the state of Louisiana. NSU graduate nurses have also traditionally excelled in licensing exams, with a phenomenal 98% first-time pass rate on the last NCLEX exam for new nurses.
