Sergeant Nick Sandel and his K-9 “Kay” recently achieved the national standards by the National Police Canine Association.
Sgt Sandel and “Kay” received their recertifications in Patrol 1 and Narcotics (Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin, Marijuana).
K-9s and their handlers must spend many extra hours training each month. Sgt Sandel and “Kay” travel to Shreveport every week where they spend several hours training with other K-9s across Northwest Louisiana.
Sgt Sandel has worked for the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office for six years and K-9 “Kay” is a 6-year-old Dutch Shepherd.
Sheriff Aaron Mitchell commends Sgt Sandel for his dedication and sacrifice which make him and K-9 “Kay” invaluable assets to the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office.
