Summer is here! Which means more fun around the lake and in pools! There are dangers with the fun though, which can be prevented with the proper precautions and safety measures.
According to the World Health Organization, drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide, accounting for 7% of all injury-related deaths.
The best way to prevent a drowning, even with the most secure swimmer, is the proper use of a life jacket.
As part of the KTBS 3 News Freedom Fest Series, free lifejackets will be given away while supplies last on June 26.
The Sabine River Authority, State of Louisiana is sponsoring this event. Lifejackets will be available at the following SRA-LA locations. (All Parks located on Toledo Bend)
