AG Liz Murrill arrests Sabine Parish woman for more than $48,000 in government benefits fraud

44-year-old Kassie R. Malmay, of Highway 191 in Many, was arrested Oct. 6, 2026, on the following charges:

  • Two (2) counts LRS 14:70.9 (Government Benefits Fraud) 

LBI received a criminal referral from Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) regarding allegations that Kassie Malmay, a Medicaid recipient, had underreported her income for purposes to receive Medicaid benefits.

During this investigation, LBI agents learned that in the period between November 1, 2023 – April 1, 2026, Malmay provided false information to LDH by concealing her marital status and true household income.  As a result, Malmay defrauded the Medicaid program of more than $48,000. 

On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, LBI agents arrested Malmay pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the 19th Judicial District Court on charges pertaining to Government Benefits Fraud. Malmay was booked without incident at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.  

This arrest was the result of a joint investigation between the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation and Louisiana Department of Health- Medicaid Fraud Unit.

The investigation remains ongoing.
