Child ID Kits from the National Child Identification Program were sent home from school with all elementary age students across Sabine Parish.
Sheriff Aaron Mitchell and the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office partnered with Sabine Parish School Board, the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association, and Office of the Louisiana Attorney General to distribute these kits so parents will have vital information to provide to law enforcement in the event of an emergency involving their child.
The kits provide a simple way for parents to collect and store their child’s fingerprints and a DNA sample. Once received, the kits are to be completed and stored at home by parents in a secure place. The program is also completely voluntary and free of charge. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of this free tool designed to help keep your children safe.
“The safety of children in Sabine Parish is very important, these ID kits are another way the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office can help keep children safe and give parents peace of mind,” said Sheriff Mitchell.
