Many, La (February 4, 2022) – During its Annual Membership Meeting on February 2nd, the Louisiana Travel Association (LTA) announced the winners of the Louey Awards, which honors and showcases individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the Louisiana tourism industry.

This year LTA and Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser presented Louey Awards to two Toledo Bend Lake Country local businesses. Attraction of the Year was awarded to Living the Dream Guide Service. Accommodation of the Year Limited Services Lodging was awarded to Wildwood Resort.

Living the Dream (LTD) is a tourism partner in Sabine Parish who provides professional guide services specializing in bass and crappie fishing. The business is owned and operated by Gloria and Jerry Thompson. Their two children Brandi and Matthew Loetscher play prominent rolls in the business, along with a team of great guides. Gloria is a graduate of the Louisiana Tourism Leadership Academy.

LTD books more than 1500 trips per year, which brings over 7000 visitors to Sabine Parish. In the last several years they have fished people from forty-four different states and six countries. The American Sportfishing Association says that each angler that travels to fish spends an average of $130 per day in addition to the cost of the fishing trip.

LTD is in the final stages of completion of their new facility located on Toledo Bend Lake. The Marina offers fuel by water, bait, and concessions to the public. They have a catch & cook permit and can cook & serve the fish their customers catch on their beautiful waterfront deck.

Wildwood Resort, one of Louisiana’s hidden gems, is a beautiful property along Toledo Bend Lake with easy water access. It has forty cabins, conference centers that can accommodate meetings, corporate retreats, reunions, or weddings of any size. There’s also RV pads, three newly renovated swimming and wading pools, stocked fishing ponds, a petting zoo, character paddle boats, kayaks and much more. Their friendly staff are dedicated to making sure their guests have a memorable experience and a pleasant stay.

With even more expansion coming in 2022 Wildwood has started construction on Zwolle Adventure Park that will offer a lazy river, water slides, and a putt putt golf course. Receiving the Louey Award on behalf of Wildwood Resort is Huey Roberts, General Manager.

“We are so proud of Living the Dream and Wildwood Resort for receiving these prestigious awards,” said Georgia Craven, Executive Director of Sabine Parish Tourist Commission. “Their hard work showcase Toledo Bend Lake and our great culture to the rest of the state.”
