Sabine Parish Students Selected as Educators Rising National Ambassadors

Two local students were selected to represent Sabine Parish as Educators Rising National Ambassadors. Educator  Rising is a national organization for students interested in pursuing a career in the education field. Throughout the  academic year, students complete courses related to various topics in education, along with classroom observations.  Miss ShaeAunna Johnson and Miss Annabelle Bagley were chosen after submitting applications.

After submitting applications, which included a brief biography, an essay about why they are pursuing a career in  education, along with their thoughts on social media, their applications were reviewed by a panel of representatives  from Educators Rising. As Educators Rising National Ambassadors, these ladies will be responsible for posting  about Educators Rising at least three times a week on various social media platforms, such as Twitter and Instagram.  Also, they will participate in Twitter chats, post chapter pictures of events, respond to questions posed by Educators  Rising, and conduct themselves as a positive role model for future educators.

ShaeAunna Johnson is a sophomore at Many High School. Her future plans include to become an English Language Arts or a social studies teacher. After completing her bachelor’s degree in education, Shae has aspirations to obtain her doctorate degree and eventually teach on the collegiate level. “It was surprising to get the email announcing that I was chosen. My Mom was ecstatic when I told her the news as well. I will do my best to use my voice on social media to celebrate the field of education, Educators Rising, and represent Sabine Parish on a national platform,” stated Johnson. “This is truly an honor to be selected.”

Annabelle (AB) Bagley is a sophomore at Converse High School. AB would like to complete a degree in history in order to teach social studies. She is very interested in politics, United States history, and religious studies. Although she has not completely ruled out pursuing her doctorate degree in history, currently teaching high school history is what piques her interest the most. “When I opened my email and saw I was selected, I was in shock. I was not sure that they would choose me, but they did. Social media can be used in many positive ways to get messages out to the masses. My plan is to use social media to do just that by encouraging others to join Educators Rising and become teachers here in Sabine Parish. I am overwhelmed and honored to have this opportunity,” Annabelle stated.

These ladies will be the voice of Sabine Parish Educators Rising throughout the 2021-22 school year. Sabine  parish is working to “grow-their-own” in the field of education and offering Educators Rising classes to high  school students is a wonderful place to begin.
