The Run for Burt 5K was organized to raise funds for the Burt Clark Foundation, which was established to honor the memory of the Natchitoches native and raise funds through a cause he was deeply passionate about.
Burt was an avid runner and advocate of healthy living and active lifestyles, and regularly participated in numerous 5K events annually, including the Atlanta Peachtree Road Race, Calloway Gardens Triathlon, and the Beta Lambda Omega Psi Phi 5k/10k. Burt’s untimely passing this past spring was a devastating blow to the entire community and every person who knew him and loved him. He was a 1989 graduate of Natchitoches Central High School and a graduate of Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge. Burt was a lifelong learner and believed “education is the passport to the future, and tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” Through this fundraiser and events that follow, the Burt Clark Foundation will provide scholarships to deserving Natchitoches Central High School seniors and students attending Southern University, as well as continue advocacy for healthy and active living.
Participants can register online at www.runforburt.org and sponsors can use the attached Sponsorship Form to make your donations.
