Ebarb rallies past Phoenix, 66-63
LAKE CHARLES – Trailing by 13 points, the Ebarb Rebels needed a lift.
Enter Zach Parrie.
The versatile senior poured in 44 points in leading the sixth-seeded Rebels to a 66-63 comeback victory over second-ranked Phoenix Spartans in the Class C semifinals at Burton Coliseum on Monday.
With the win, the Rebels advanced to the Class C finals at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night back at Burton Coliseum.
The Spartans took control of the game in the first period, moving out to a 13-9 lead after the first eight minutes of play.
Ebarb rallied to cut the gap to two points, 32-30, at the intermission. However, Phoenix moved out to a 13-point during the third period. But by the end of the frame, Ebarb had closed the deficit back to two points, 49-47.
But over the final eight minutes, Ebarb was able to put together a 19-14 advantage to close out the victory, reaching the state finals for the first time since 1970.
Along with his 44 points, Parrie reeled in 11 rebounds. He connected on 12-of-24 shots from the floor, along with 17-of-21 attempts from the free throw line.
Teammate Connor Malmay added 10 points.
Nashuan Narcisse led the Spartans with 39 points and 10 rebounds, while Nalon Narcisse added 13 points.
